Exhibition layout in OO6.5 scale (1/76). The layout represents a typical inland tourist attraction, set in the grounds of a large country manor house. It is based around ideas taken from Dodington House, near Chipping Sodbury, Longleat, near Warminster, and Cricket St.Thomas, near Chard. The idea is to show my hand-painted model coaches, in sets of 14 at a time, together with motorised buses and coaches running around on the Faller System. There is also a miniature railway running round the lake. This uses Z-gauge (6.5mm) to represent a 15-inch miniature railway in 'OO' scale.
The layout has a frontage of 8 feet, and stands 4 feet wide.
Below are a few more pictures illustrating the layout at exhibitions.
The left picture shows 'Dodileat Manor' at the 'Febex' Model Railway Exhibition at Alton, Hants, in February 2010. The middle picture is an overview of the layout at the Lydney Model Show, way back in September 2000. On the right is a 'classic coach rally' scene on the layout at the Shepton Mallet 'Mendip' Exhibition in June 2008. (Note that none of the 'classic coach' models shown here are featured individually on this site). The National Express Premiere and the Paramount in the middle of the coach park are motorised, together with the park & ride buses at the front and on the right. They operate on a 'figure of 8' guided route around the middle of the layout.
